About The Role
Hybrid Role – 2 days a week in the office, 3 days a week at home.
Please note this is an entry level role to be based out of the London office, working on a hybrid basis.
The Underwriting Technician will be the first point of contact for work coming into the team from both internal and external clients. You will collaborate closely with Sales and Retention teams to support the acquisition and retention of Corporate clients. Use extensive underwriting knowledge to ensure that terms are provided only to risks. The Underwriting Technician will use a range of IT platforms to direct work flow and monitor progress against deadlines, making a significant contribution to the day to day running of the Underwriting Team.
Accountabilities
- Responding to telephone and e-mail queries in respect of quotation requests.
- Supporting with the allocation of work received and generation of reporting and MI.
- Manage key stakeholders expectations, ensuring understanding of timescales and progress of work items.
- Corporate Underwriting mailbox queries dealt with in agreed timescales, making recommendations for next steps when outside of standard process.
- Monitor and manage own workloads and service levels to ensure action taken to keep within service levels at all times and to raise issues with Manager in good time.
- Demonstrate knowledge and capability through QA and regular testing.
- Keying data for Underwriters with the potential to complete simple underwriting within authority.
- Supporting Underwriters as required.
Skills required
- GCSE’s (or equivalent) at grade C or above for Maths and English.
- or other evidence of good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Dynamic and resilient individual with a desire to work in an innovative and change oriented environment.
- Able to communicate well with internal and external customers at all levels of the business.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Experienced using Microsoft Office applications in particular MS Excel (intermediate) to organise and analyse data through defined processes or on an ad-hoc basis where needed.
- Familiar with the use of internal intranets, workflow systems and Company e-mail.
