It is with great pleasure that we welcome our latest new recruit Elaine Barrington to Team RG. Elaine joined us on 9 April 2018 and is already settling into the role of commercial account executive.

Elaine has been a part of the insurance industry for almost ten years and we are delighted at the prospect of bringing such a great level of commercial lines expertise into the company.

Elaine will be playing an integral role in assisting our valued commercial clients with their entire scope of cover needs, from property and fleet through all aspects of indemnity and liability cover.

Underwriting Insight, Broking Expertise

We were particularly impressed with Elaine’s background in underwriting. Coupled with her broking experience, this gives her a view from both sides and is a massive help to us all in comprehending how cover decisions are made. We know it will be of great assistance to our clients too.

Having started her career working for a Lloyd’s syndicate in London that dealt with major international property claims following natural disasters, Elaine’s introduction into insurance was something of a baptism of fire. “It was a very complex area to work in, and it certainly taught me the value of being meticulous, particularly in situations where so much was on the line.”

After a successful stint as an underwriting assistant, Elaine felt it was time to move out of London and into broking. “I was keen to start working face to face with people and helping them directly with their cover needs,” she says. “I also wanted to expand my commercial experience further afield than property.” This she clearly did very well, joining Robert Gerrard with a raft of knowledge and expertise across all areas of commercial cover.

Proven Knowledge

Whilst working for Lloyd’s, Elaine sat the Lloyd’s and London Market Introductory Test (LLMIT) which gave her an excellent grounding across the full insurance spectrum. We’re impressed that she’s not through with her studying just yet: Elaine’s next goal is complete the Chartered Insurance Institute Level 3 Certificate in Insurance. She certainly has our support with that.

Dedicated to the Highest Levels of Service

Elaine’s approach is professional yet friendly and we can see that her previous work in international property claims has given her an exacting eye for detail which is incredibly important in what we do. Elaine says, “The individual needs of my clients and delivering a high level of service are all important to me. As I understand is the Robert Gerrard way, I too work hard to build close client relationships and provide all the help I can to make a difference to them.”

Elaine is keen for clients to feel they can pick up the telephone any time or drop her a line and ask for help. “I want people to feel reassured that I can provide whatever they need, when they need it.” Elaine definitely shares the Robert Gerrard values.

Take her to the Tower!

Tower of LondonOutside of work, Elaine has run half marathons for The Brain Tumour Charity, a cause close to her heart. She’s a keen gym-goer with weight training one of her favourite ways to work out.

Elaine also enjoys quality family time. In fact, talking to her about family revealed something incredibly fascinating… Elaine’s grandad had quite an important job in his time; you could say it was a role of national importance: guarding the Crown Jewels at the Tower of London! When Elaine was born, her grandad decided to mark the proud moment by writing to the Queen to ask if Elaine’s christening could be held at the Tower. The Queen’s reply? It was a yes! So, with royal consent, Elaine was christened at the Tower of London. We think that’s really amazing. What a shame she was too young to remember the experience!
